We are having a fantastic Christmas at Exodus!
Last week we took our Kidz Klubs ‘on tour’ to local Care Homes throughout Barnsley to perform a small Nativity and carol service, written by Dan, which we had rehearsed briefly the week before in clubs. This has been an annual Exodus tradition for over 10 years. We find that the residents thoroughly enjoy watching the show and meeting the children… This year was no exception! The performances were absolutely fantastic and a huge success. The feedback we received was incredibly positive and we are extremely proud of all of the children who took part. For many of them it was the first time they had ever spoken in front of an audience, so we were very grateful of the opportunity to develop their confidence.
We’ve recently had another weekend camp, too. This time it was the turn of Darfield Kidz Klub and Rock Solid. We did lots and lots of amazing activities, such as ice skating, swimming, cinema and more. The camp included another of Exodus’s annual traditions – we ‘hijack’ the Darfield Valley Methodist church on the second Sunday of December each year. This year we explored “Who was Jesus?”, led by Martin. A big thank you to all the children on camp who participated in the service!
This week – it’s party time! We’ve been having Christmas parties for the children in all of our Kidz Klubs, consisting of classic party games and more. For our older Rock Solid groups, we have been taking them to Meadowhall Shopping Centre for McDonald's and a Secret Santa activity as part of their outdoor social. The atmosphere in clubs has been great and it has been really nice to share the excitement with them in the lead up to Christmas.
Next week it’s time to whip out our best frocks and glad rags for a formal dress themed Volunteer Social which we will be holding at Jenny’s Field, as a thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who have supported us through 2017. We have entertainment and games (and food of course!) planned and it will be an excellent night.
On behalf of everyone at Exodus, we would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a wonderful new year. We can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store for us. Onward and upwards!
Here are some comments we have received a from a couple of parents. We are truly grateful for your kind words;
